Mother of the Bride's Duties

6 months to go
Accompany bride to dress fittings.
Meet with the couple and the groom's parents to compile guest list.
Help send out invitations and reply to responses.
Order stationery if needed.
Contact suppliers (catering, florists etc..) if asked.

2 months to go

Go shopping with the groom's mother so that your outfits don't clash with each other. This will also give you time to get to know each other properly.

1 - 2 weeks to go

Visit hairdresser.
Confirm arrangements with suppliers.
Take delivery of the cake.

On the day

Early morning, collect flowers.
Ensure reception venue and caterer are on ready.
Help bride to dress.
Leave for church with the attendants.
Be the last guest to be seated at the ceremony.
Witness or perform signing of register.
Participate in the Recessional, escorted by the groom's father.
Leave for the reception with groom's father, after the couple and before the guests.

Reception duties

Participate in the receiving line.
Gather and store wedding gifts.
Ensure guests enjoy themselves.
