Ribbon Ornaments, Easy Craft Project for ChristmasRibbon Ornaments for Christmas

These quick and easy ornaments are perfect as projects for the kids, and work well with any themed Christmas tree because you can choose the colors. They are also an inexpensive and easy way to get enough ornaments to fill your tree, especially for newly married couples or for singles that don’t have much money to spend on a lot of ornaments.

What you will need:

• Fishing line
• Clear Pony beads
• Wire edged ribbon in any color you desire
• Scissors
• Sewing needle
• Clear fingernail polish

Directions:

1. Begin by cutting a piece of fishing line about one yard long.
2. String the sewing needle with the fishing line.
3. Put one of the pony beads on the fishing line.
4. Tie a knot around the pony bead at one of the ends of the fishing line. This will serve as the base of the ornament.
5. Unroll some of the wire edged ribbon. If the edges are frayed on the end of the ribbon trim it with the scissors.
6. Measure in a half inch from the end of the wire edged ribbon.
7. Poke the needle through the ribbon at the half-inch mark and pull it through until it reaches the pony bead at the end.
8. String another pony bead on. You do not have to tie a knot around this one.
9. Bend the wire edged ribbon over the pony bead.
10. Poke the needle through the ribbon so that it stays in a nice curve.
11. Put another pony bead on the fishing line.
12. Bend the ribbon the opposite direction as you did last time and put it onto the fishing line.
13. You will repeat this process about three times.
14. Cut the wire edged ribbon so that about a half-inch is left at the top.
15. String on another pony bead and tie a knot on it so that it stays securely.
16. Form a loop with the fishing line and tie the end to the pony bead. This will be the “hook” for hanging the ornament on the tree.

Now you have finished your ornament. You can try making the ornaments with all sorts of ribbon. Try it with ribbon that has glitter along the edges, or even lace-like ribbon for some fun effects. You can also try putting using small charms, teardrop shaped beads, or crystals as the base for the ornament for a more glamorous look.

You could also use this technique to create garlands for other parts of the house or for use on the tree. Simply measure how long you would need the garland to be and cut the fishing line accordingly.

Storing these ornaments is also a lot easier than traditional ornaments because they do not break easily and even if they get a little flattened; you can easily reshape them because of the wire in the ribbon.
