Flower ArrangementsSunflower Pew Bow Wall Arrangement

This arrangement has been made in a "shovel", which is a small
rectangular plastic tray with a handle on one side. It takes one
third of a block of floral foam for the mechanics. This design would
be suitable as a pew end decoration, and some form of fastening
should be attached to the handle so that it can be fixed to the pew
end, depending on the shape of the pew end. This could be ribbon,
raffia, string, wire, etc. The handle and fixing method are classed
as mechanics, so should not be seen from the front, therefore, the
plant material should come up high enough to cover the handle.
For this design I have used a limited selection of flowers and
foliage. The foliage used is Fatsia japonica variegata, Hedera
colchica, and to give length to the design, some linear leaves of
Astelia 'Westland', which are silvery green, flushed with maroon. I
have also used two loops of Xerophyllum tenax (Bear Grass), to add
rhythm to the design. The only flowers used are three Helianthus
annuum (Sunflowers) and three Celosia cristata 'Bombay Yellow'
(Cockscomb).
