Taking Care of Your Skin in Summer
Taking care of your skin in the summer time can be a challenge.
Not only do you have to deal with your normal skin care routine,
but you also have to take into consideration the added stresses
that your body is put under during hot weather. Fortunately there
are several easy steps that you can take to protect your skin from
summer stress.
1. Go Natural for Summer
One of the worst things that you can do to your skin when it is
facing heat, extra ultra violet ray exposure, and dry weather is
to use harsh chemicals to clean your face. These chemicals strip
away your natural oils and leave your skin vulnerable. Because of
this it is important to switch from chemical cleansers to natural
cleansers when the temperatures start to climb.
2. Eat More Salads
A tasty way to protect your skin in the summertime is to eat
more dark green salads. Deep green leafy vegetables are high in
lutein, which is an antioxidant. Antioxidants are great for giving
your skin a little extra protection from the ravages of the sun.
They also make your skin look fantastic.
3. Use an SPF Every Day
Another way to protect your skin from summer sun is to use a
product with SPF every day. In the morning apply a moisturizer
with an SPF, and then later in the day apply another SPF product
like a sun block. Make sure that you re-apply SPF as you need it
to ensure that your skin is protected from morning to night.
4. Moisturizing
Moisturizing your skin every day is another important step that
you won’t want to skip. If you have sensitive skin then you should
use a moisturizer that is fragrance and color free. If you want to
cut down on the steps in your morning routine you can even use a
tinted moisturizer instead of using foundation.
5. Enjoy the Fresh Produce of Summer
Take advantage of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are only
available during the summer. Eat lots of fresh berries, melons,
grapes, black beans, and green leafy veggies. All of these fresh
foods have vitamins and chemical compounds that not only protect
your skin from sun damage, but they also fight the signs of aging.
6. Understand the Products That You Use on Your Skin
There are a lot of skin care products that make your skin
healthier. However, some of these products can also leave your
skin vulnerable to sun damage. For example skin care products with
Vitamin A in them can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight
and make you more prone to developing a sun burn. Because some
products may have side effects that leave you more vulnerable to
sun damage, it is important to understand what ingredients are in
your skin care products and what potential side effects they may
have.
